When living in the Bay Area, my favorite events were the numerous Highland Games and Gaelic events. Back in Western Pennsylvania, its the numerous fall Apple Festivals. October 7th and 8th are the dates for the festival in Hickory, PA (west of Pittsburgh) and Delmont, PA (east of Pittsburgh). My son and I visited both - Mommy was demonstrating and selling hand-made brooms in Hickory, and Grandpa was selling Lions Club brooms in Delmont. Traffic issues dominated the day, but that's nothing the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy ([or a trusty Saturn coupe] and Google Earth, Apple's iMovie & iSight) can't handle. Unpaid actors don't always cooperate, so lego-man stand-ins & voice-overs help out! :-)
