Recorded January 22, 2007
Guitar virtuoso Richard Horner joined us in the studio for an intensive discussion of nontraditional music theory and how it relates to death metal, contemporary "classical" music, and other forms of "exploratory" music. Samples of each are played, including some of Richard's own material. Some topics discussed include True Metal, atonality, tricky time signatures, how music can be "exploratory," how much metal rules etc..
Technical Difficulties:
-The host's microphone was a bit low in the beginning, in addition to the usual struggle to form coherent sentences.
-The contemporary "classical" music near the end was barely audible, so louder versions were spliced in after the interview.
-People had trouble staying connected to the stream, including the computer recording the interview. Approximately less than %10 of content was lost, and the dialogue can still be understood, although pieces are missing. The disconnects are marked in the video.
-Audio quality is very lossy/compressed.
