On June 15, 2006 at 6pm Central Time (21:00 UTC), Peter Angelos, MD, Ph.D., Director, Section of Endocrine Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, presented a minimally invasive thyroidectomy procedure on the Internet from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
"Thyroidectomy scars are in a prominent location, which makes the prospect of a smaller incision very important to patients," said Dr. Angelos. "Through our procedural demonstration of the use of minimally invasive techniques, we hope to educate health providers on the patient benefits of the procedure."
