Mike Lucas spent a month in East Germany visiting his relatives and experiencing first hand what life is like under a communist regime. This experience, along with the personal accounts from his parents, who lived first under Hitler and then under the communists, formed in him a revulsion of totalitarian governments, and a conviction to understand the secret mechanisms by which they retain power. After his father died he went to University, where he obtained my Engineering Degree in 1987. He spent the next 7 years as an electronics design engineer working for a major telecommunications company, where he gained an exposure to the workings of large corporations and the cult of technology.Recorded on 15th March, 2008.
