In case you hadn't already noticed, the fake organization created to be responsible for this film does indeed spell out "Satire".
This film began on a slow Sunday morning the last week I was at home before I was suppose to return back to college. I was bored and was watching/listening to an interview with internet-demigod Dylan Avery. Admittedly I had never considered him intelligent, but stupid people are not exactly an uncommon occurrence on the web. However, while listening to this particular interview I was swayed from condescension directed at the man to utter contempt.
He alleged that Bernard Curtis Brown Jr., an 11 year old boy who was killed in the crash of Flight 77, was sent to his death by his father Navy Chief Petty Officer Bernard Curtis Brown Sr. He alleges that because the father talked with his son about death because his son was afraid to fly that day, that this somehow implicates him in the giant conspiracy that took place before, during, and even now after 9/11. Brown Sr. supposedly worked at the Pentagon and had taken the day off to play golf. Evidently a terrible coincidence equals responsibility. As if Brown wouldn't have felt responsible enough for his son's death, Avery makes it clear that he not only believes that he was complicit in the events but states it as fact. A mistake Avery has nearly perfected to an art-form.
This wasn't as though someone had heard him and his son speaking about it either. His father has reflected on that day himself. DefenseLINK.mil quotes him as saying "It's just so happened that on that date, we talked about death," he recalled. "They're going to do kayaking and things inner city kids don't normally do. So I said, 'Son, be careful.' They'd put a disclaimer in the paperwork that said death could happen. But not in my wildest dreams did I think he'd die before he could get there."
As if the family hadn't suffered enough Avery made a point of accusing the grieving father of killing his son...
Avery's movie "Loose Change" begins with the line "Dedicated to the lives we lost on September 11th, 2001." That doesn't really seem to be the case anymore, does it?
My thoughts and prayers are with the Brown family and every other family who not only lost loved ones on 9/11 but had their names slandered by Avery and Co.
I really couldn't take this one sitting down. I couldn't take this person slanderously implying that some of the families who are victims in and of themselves were somehow complicit in the deaths of their own loved ones. I decided at first to do a satirical blog. However, the more and more I wrote, the less and less I really had the urge to continually update a blog or other type of website that was going to require responses to comments, continual updates, feature writings etc.
The basis for the blog was originally a satirical and in some cases downright fictitious connection between 9/11 and Jackie Chan who was indeed scheduled to begin filming the movie "Nosebleed" at and on the twin towers on the morning of September 11th, 2001. At some point I realized that if you drop the "G" and the "E" from the end of "Loose Change", you get Loose Chan. This changed everything and I could no longer resist the urge to do a pointed parody of "Loose Change" under this name.
The work as a whole is a work of satire. It is a humorous dig meant without good intentions at the absurdity of the claims of Dylan Avery and his co-conspirators in their video. If you felt it was in bad taste and an insult to the real people that suffered on September 11th, 2001, than the desired affect was achieved. It shows what uneducated, circumstantial, and in some respects blatant lies can have on a situation. He is entitled to his own beliefs and opinions (excluding his slanderous statements which are not protected in the United States) as am I in my disgust with the man and his internet operation.
