Tim Wagner, director of the Utah Smart Energy Campaign, a proactive effort of the Utah chapter of the Sierra Club, spoke to the Sevier Citizens for Clean Air and Water in Richfield, Utah, January 2007.
The Sevier Citizens are the local opponents of two proposed coal-fired power plants, one in Millard County and another in Sevier County, which have been criticized around the U.S. The Sevier Citizens and Tim Wagner agree that the proposed coal power plants would harm public health by depositing mercury, microparticulates within the small Sevier Valley (known for its proximity to many national and state parks), while contributing millions of tons of global warming gases to the atmosphere each day.
