Bill Gates testified to the Senate in order to lobby for more H-1B visas, more employment based green cards, and expedited procedures to allow foreign students to work and gain permanent residence status in the USA.
Gates thinks that an infinite number of H-1B visas is appropriate and cites global competitiveness for the reason If he can’t get unlimited numbers of visas he is willing to settle for 300,000 new visas per year.
Bill Gates was the only one to be invited to Sen. Kennedy's March 7, 2007 hearing on "competitiveness". Bill Gates does everything possible to crush Microsoft's competition but that didn't stop him from asking for more government intervention to protect his copyrights. The richest man in the world doesn’t have a problem with forcing American workers into global labor arbitrage with cheap labor from countries like India. He wants to be richer and he is willing to do this on the back of the Americans that built Microsoft.
