Ice in the Intertidal
00:32  - 1 year ago
There's not much intertidal life in Antarctica. This is one reason why. The soup of ice and seawater bashing against the shore has the consistency of concrete. It'd be hard for any animal to settle here and live through a winter. The benthic invertebrates all live below about 15 feet, out of reach of the grinding and pounding effects of the commonly-sized ice bergs and bits.
