I show this and talk about water quality issues to a number of groups and conservancies, and people ask me why I shot images of homeless people for this video. I say to them that homeless are as much of our society as any of us. To exclude them as if they do not matter is outrageous. I worked for an environmental firm a few years ago to test the water in the Los Angeles River for bacterial pollution. A large plume came from down town where so many homeless people live. And it is not just that they live on the street and defecate where they can... Ask... "Where do they get water to drink? where do they shower or clean them selves?" Also, homeless are not THE polluters.... Example... the out-fall from Huntington Beach sewage, which has closed the beaches recently for so many years, came from all the people living in their nice homes making their beautiful surf zones quite toxic. PEOPLE create toxic situations for themselves. We need to be mindful of all of us. And I want to make the point, too, that economic strata does not eliminate our effect on the environment...
