One of Griffith's morality tales, One Is Business The Other Crime is a cautionary story about the dangers of ambition and greed, and how they can corrupt even people who want to be honest. Two couples are married at the same time, and each partner vows to be honest with each other and with everyone else. One couple tries hard to keep this promise, but are sorely tested when the husband loses his job -- they go further and further into debt while the other husband, who is connected politically, prospers. He is offered a bribe to approve a public contract and rationalizes this as a business deal, but then the poorer man steals the money.
