This movie of more than 100 dynamic AFM images displays a nanoscale winter scene during a snowstorm (5000 nm on a side). The snowman, tree, and hill were drawn by poling individual ferroelectric domains using AFM nanolithography (saample by R. Ramesh, UCBerkeley). The developing snowstorm is the result of homogeneous domain nucleation and growth during scanning. The blizzard at the end is caused by increasing the applied bias. Enjoy...
