This was an amazing early February day at Troy Spring on the Suwannee River in Florida. The park ranger told me that Manatees did come to the spring, but that he has not seen one in years. Then, I spotted this big guy cruising around the spring. The spring water is 72 deg. year-round because it flows through the limestone aquifer under the earth which is always the same temperature. The manatees are cold in the winter and are attracted to the spring water because it is warmer than the Suwannee River water. I hope you enjoy this video. You can purchase photos of the manatee and view more videos of this and many different springs on my website, www.wildworldphotos.com.
