Why did this happen and what are the results of these mergers and changes taking place in the SEIU will be the issues addressed at this forum. Under a plan to merge locals in California, Dozens of SEIU locals have been merged into mega locals. This was presented as a way to strengthen the union. At the same time, the SEIU which helped support the formation of the new union grouping Change To Win CTW has said that the labor movement has to revitalize and break from the methods of the AFL-CIO. This forum will have speakers from present SEIU members from throughout California and other trade unionists about the affect of these mergers, the struggles in the SEIU and where it and the CTW is going.
