Pastor Nelson Turner preaching from the Gospel of John Chapter 6 (verses 43 through 71)as found to our edification in the AV1611 King James Bible expounds on God's free gift of faith (and, by faith, salvation) bestowed upon His elect. "He that believeth on me hath everlasting life."
Verse by verse, he helps us to see the Truth that God is Spirit, and His Words are Spirit and They are life; therefore, the words spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ must be understood spiritually, not carnally. "It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profieth nothing."
In this regard the great truth of God's election is demonstrated for "Every man therefore that hath heard and hath learned of the Father cometh unto me."
And in this is seen the "great divide" between the carnal man who goes his way ("free will" and works "salvation") to destruction and the spiritual man who by God's grace is called to everlasting life. For, "From that time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him."
Although not the expressed purpose of Pastor Turner's preaching this day on these verses, he does show how to properly understand Our Lord's teaching that He will give us His flesh to eat.
Here again, a proper apprehension of the Lord's teaching, and clear intent, shows the divide between carnal and spiritual.
The "Mass" and Roman Catholic liturgical ceremonies grounded in these verses should be examined in light of Our Lord's coherent message throughout this chapter and elsewhere.
