This is my plastic surgery before and after story as I have a closed (endonasal) rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills, CA. My sister had a rhinoplasty procedure before me that left her with undesirable results. Learning from her experience, I did my research and chose one of the Top Rhinoplasty Specialists in the world, Dr. Paul S. Nassif, to perform my surgery.
Closed rhinoplasty refers to procedures in which the incisions are confined to the inside of the nose. Open rhinoplasty refers to procedures in which an additional small incision is made between the nostrils on the underside of the nose. Closed rhinoplasty results in no visible scarring while open rhinoplasty results in a well-concealed, fine-line scar.
Nasal surgery can change your nose in many different ways. The most common changes made are:
1. Tip of the nose: corrected by adding or excising cartilage at the tip and stitches the cartilage together. A low tip of the nose can be raised by adding cartilage to support the tip, removing excess cartilage in the septum, or repositioning the cartilage.
2. Dorsal bone: the hump of the bridge can be corrected by removing (with a chisel or rasp) excess cartilage and bone, then brings the nasal bones together.
3. Wide bony portion of nose: corrected by breaking the bones of the nose and repositioning them inward.
4. Wide base of the nose: corrected by removing tissue at the base of the nose and the nostrils moved closer together.
5. Nostrils too wide: corrected by removing small wedges of skin from
6. their base and bringing them closer together.
7. Angle between nose and lip: corrected by trimming the septum.
Many procedures were performed on Luisa's nose including: 1. Septoplasty & Septal Battan Graft, 2. Turbinoplasty, 3. Closed Rhinoplasty - Exposing Nasal Anatomy, 4. Removal of Bony-Cartilaginous Dorsal Hump, 5. Columella Strut Placement, 6. Bruised Infratip Lobular Graft, 7. Osteotomies, 8. Spreader Grafts & 9. Closed Rhinoplasty - Closure of Intercartilaginous & Hemitransfixion Incisions.
