June Ormond IS The Virtual Vaudevillian
30:19  - 2 years ago
June Carr Ormond began performing at age 12 when she sang in a small coffee bar (owned by her parents) called "Coffee Cliffs". "Coffee Cliff's", located downstairs from the Rialto theater in NYC (no longer standing) was frequented by stars of stage and screen and soon led young June to frequent auditions, her talent carried her from there. Over the years she performed with... Ginger Rogers, Ethel Merman, Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Lash LaRue, Charlie McCarthy, The Three Stooges, Robert Alda (father of Alan Alda of "Mash" fame). She was friendly with Howard Hughes, the famous Ziegfield, Elizabeth Taylor, Bela Lugosi, Debbie Reynolds and Roy Rogers, who owned property next to her and Ron in San Fernando Valley. After marrying her husband Ron (whom she knew for only six weeks), June and Ron went on to produce films for 20th Century Fox, before launching a string of THEN famous serial Westerns starring Lash LaRue and Fuzzy St. John. Fuzzy was one of the original keystone cops. In the 1990s June was featured in... "Blood, Friends and Money" starring Jim Varney of "Hey Vern fame, plus numerous "Ernest" movies. June and Jim could be heard telling each other jokes, Jim laughed at hers, but June (hard of hearing as she approached 90) never quite got the punch line when Jim told his. June has also appeared in numerous music videos and commercials for a variety of production companies. Her life was active and full.
