New Orleans Media Speaks About Hurricane Katrina
05:14  - 3 years ago
Disasters like Hurricane Katrina can make a journalist’s career… but when the story is about your own backyard the stakes becoming painstakingly higher. Some local New Orleans reporters and anchors, like ABC26 weatherman Bruce Katz, watched their own homes destroyed on live television while continuing with the newscast. This short film will turn the tables and ask questions to those usually on the other side of the microphone. An all-star line up of local journalists break the “fourth wall” to explain the impact of the story on their lives… and on the future of their home city. This project is part of a series of short documentaries produced by the non-profit, New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC). Several New Orleans filmmakers were challenged to create a short documentary on New Orleans as we try to gain support from the nation to help rebuild our great city. The stories provide a snap shot of life in New Orleans following Katrina from a local point-of-view. The budget for each short documentary is $500.
