Pele the Eclectus Lays an Egg
00:46  - 2 years ago
Female Eclectus parrot Pele lays an egg. A series of still webcam pictures have been assembled into a time lapse video of the event around 13:10PM. In the next to last picture, the new egg is visible in the right side of the image in the corner of the cage. Evidently the Potassium Bromide medication is doing a fine job of controlling her focal seizures. The seizures affected her leg, causing her to bite into the muscles. Ever since she was given the Potassium Bromide the seizures have almost completely disappeared and she no longer bites into her leg. The last time she laid eggs was about 3 years ago when she was 4 years old. This is the second egg of the clutch. Unfortunately, she broke the first one which was laid on Sunday night. She has started incubating this egg, so we believe that she has finished.
