01:46  - 2 years ago
Made Possible Through Generous Support from the Colcom Foundation Heads are up around town! The Pittsburgh Festival of Lights has generated so much excitement and interest from recent visitors to downtown Pittsburgh that it has been held over through July 8th. The Festival of Lights was made possible through the generous support of Pittsburgh-based Colcom Foundation. "The public reaction to Pittsburgh Festival of Lights has been incredibly positive. We are grateful that Colcom Foundation's support not only made this unique lighting display possible but has enabled its extension through the Fourth of July holiday," said Marguerite Jarrett Marks, director of Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass. During Pittsburgh Festival of Lights, downtown buildings are transformed into large scale works of arts, illuminated with rich colors, shapes and textures inspired by glass. Described by noted French lighting designer Lucette de Rugy as a "new expression of accessible art", it is all a part of Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass! – a year-long collaboration of more than 70 cultural, civic and community partners designed to get local residents and tourists to experience the region's tremendous array of arts, events and activities.
