July 2007, Thousands of visitors and local residents gathered to join the weeklong revelry as this year’s T’nalak festival opened to celebrate the foundation anniversary of South Cotabato. Various civic and ethnic programs, including an exhibition of different products of South Cotabato, were presented to showcase the rich and colorful heritage of several minorities such as the B’laans, T’bolis and other Maguindanao communities. The festival, an annual celebration of the founding day of South Cotabato, carries the term of the T’ boli tribal folks for the abaca cloth that they weave with intricate designs. It was designated as the festival icon as it symbolizes the blending of culture (colors), strength (abaca fiber) and unity (weave) of the ethnic group.July 2007, Thousands of visitors and local residents gathered to join the weeklong revelry as this year’s T’nalak festival opened to ce...all »July 2007, Thousands of visitors and local residents gathered to join the weeklong revelry as this year’s T’nalak festival opened to celebrate the foundation anniversary of South Cotabato.
