The true saga of Pearl and Ruby who lived at an old house No.18 Jalan Batai. off Upper Thomson Road (under the Sembawang Hill Estate area) continued. Their youngest sister died leaving a fortune in bank shares under appointed trustees in the bank. Fortune unfortunately came knocking t bit too late. Police earlier (a few months ago) found a skeleton inside the house of the two sisters (Ruby and Pearl) when one of them had fallen in the toilet, and a skeleton was discovered there. The coroner was unable to determine the identity of one of the sisters living there except that Pearl had left for Malaysia (in 2004) and so that must be the skeleton of Ruby?. Pearl was untraceable since the Malaysian authority case remained a mystery too! At the local courts an old lady appeared with her son to claim as relatives of Pearl and Ruby. She (Madam Kiong) claimed they were her cousins, and their maternal Grandfather was Wong Hong Chin, chief clerk and administrative head of the Singapore Municipal Commission in the 1900s. Said Madam kiong "She(Pearl)was closer to me than my own sisters, we used to swim and cycle together. She was a typist and I was a secretary to an army major during the 1940s. She added that Pearl bought a scooter with her first pay cheque and even attended her wedding in 1948. She was desribed as a very bright, pleasant and studious woman. But we drifted aparted 20 years ago...I just went on my cycle to the place (nearby my residence) and found the house deserted too - at 18, Jalan Batai..
