The dedication of the new Meditation Temple for Ananda Seattle. Ananda Seattle’s new Meditation Temple is a beautiful jewel blessing the Seattle area. Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful, it emanates the peace and light of God. Ananda members are disciples of Paramhansa Yogananda. Yogananda was born in India in 1893 and is best known as the author of the best selling book The Autobiography of a Yogi. Swami Kriyananda is a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda and is an internationally known author, lecturer, and composer. Swami Kriyananda founded Ananda Village, located in Nevada City, California, in 1968. He is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on meditation and yoga, he has taught these principles and techniques to hundreds of thousands of students around the world. Today, over 1000 people reside in seven Ananda communities throughout the U.S. (Seattle, Palo Alto, Portland, Sacramento and Rhode Island) and in Assisi, Italy and Delhi, India. Hriam and Padma McGilloway are the spiritual directors of Ananda Seattle. With a small staff of dedicated ministers they offer weekly Sunday Services, meditation instruction, hatha and Raja yoga instruction—as well as a multitude of classes based on the life changing principles taught by Paramhansa Yogananda. Swami Kriyananda currently resides in Dehli, India with a large group of Ananda devotees. Presently, they are searching for land in the Dehli area to build a new Temple of Light in India.
