The Ben Franklin Racing Team proudly presents our video demonstration submission for the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge. The Ben Franklin Racing Team is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is led by the University of Pennsylvania with partners Lehigh University and Lockheed Martin.
Our vehicle platform, nicknamed "Ben", is built upon a commercial 2006 Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid car, which has been modified for autonomous control and navigation to compete in the Urban Challenge.
Ben's current systems enable it to complete our 256 meter video demonstration course in under 50 seconds. We hope to be able to demonstrate a more advanced version of Ben this summer
