C-M-M-C’s road to becoming one of the three tertiary medical centers in Maine began with the creation of the trauma center program, one of only three in the state with the special resources needed to care for the most seriously injured patients. With this program in place, the C-M-M-C added the southern Maine home base for Lifeflight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service. In 2003, the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute began offering local access to open heart surgery, cardiac angioplasty(ann-gee-oh-plas-tee), and other advanced cardiac services.
Our Comprehensive Cancer Program provides patients with the sophisticated cancer care services available at big city hospitals, with the level of attention one usually receives at a community hospital. C-M-M-C is also home to a wide scope of primary and specialty care medical practices serving patients of all ages.
