United Nations Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) Innovation Fair
held at MET League of Colleges on 24 & 25 June 2007
United Nations aims to eradicate poverty by 2015, NGOs & Corporates suggested innovative methods.
MET & UN jointly instituted 4 innovation awards and a fellowship award.
UN delegation was led by: Ms. Hanifa Mezoui, Chief – NGO Section, DESA (UN ECOSOC)
The event
On June 24 & 25th innovation fair at MET Mumbai reviewed and shared the experiences of Asian Region countries especially the NGOs as well as the corporates with emphasis on “Strengthening efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger, through the global partnership for development” with Round Tables in Global partnership in poverty eradication and Global partnership in promotion of health. The focus this year is on identifying and sharing Innovations developed by NGOs/Corporates/ Public-Private Partnerships etc. so that the attainment of MDGs is made possible within the time frame. Such innovations need to be appreciated and promoted world-wide by sharing so as to benefit the rural poor.

Event was inaugurated by Shri. Chhagan Bhujbal, Founder Chairman, MET League of Colleges & Hon’ble Minister – Public Works Dept., Govt. of Maharashtra, Ms. Hanifa Mezoui, Chief – NGO Section, DESA (UN ECOSOC) & her senior delegates, in the presence of Prof. Luisa Brunori, Univertiy of Bologna, Italy & Erez Tsalik, facilitator, SIT, Israel. Kumar Ketkar, Editor, Loksatta delivered the keynote address. Over the two days, four Round Tables were held. The topics ranged from global partnership in poverty eradication - Role of SME/ Government in attaining MDGs to Global partnership in promotion of health.
Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) championed the rights of meritorious students. Ms. Mezoui, announced the 'MET- UN ELICA TECHNICAL MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP'.
