TIME LAPSE A SCULPTURE MADE FROM FLINT BRICKS
04:35  - 3 years ago
This is the second version of a time lapse video I put out earlier but with finished images of a sculpture included along with new music by TranceVision, album Lemuria, song Lemuria available on magnatune.com This is a time lapse of a sculpture made by me, Mark Gates. It is called 'Flint' and is mostly made of paving brick from around the early 1900s'. The brick company that produced the bricks was called 'Flint Brick Manufacturing Company’, and each brick had 'FLINT CO’ embossed on its front side; thus the name of the sculpture. The piece took from 06-08-06 thru 09-18-06 to complete and more can be seen by going to markgates.net. -------------------------------------------------- The following is an excerpt from the web site: COMING CLOSE to reason When I initially designed Flint; I flew with my own intuition on the shape. Not sensing the intent of what was to come, only that the shape seemed pleasing to my sense of openness and would invite the Viewer/Experiencer to enter its core. To set within. I now believe it is becoming what I would call a place of origin, like a seed or a womb. A Being rises within its center and becomes an introduction to the initiation within. A prelude to a threshold. This onset carries meaning from the literal to the figurative and is strictly interpretive. The Witness carries their meaning with them as they settle in the center of Flint but still becoming a part of its whole. This is a start to a journey; this I have felt from the beginning. 09-10-06 Special thanks to MAGNATUNE.COM for the FREE use of the music in this movie. Through the 'Creative Commons' they offer an alternative to full copyright. Again, the music is called Lemuria from the album Lemuria by the group TranceVision. Naturally I would like to thank Google for obvious reasons we all already appreciate.
