A chilly morning, -10F to be exact, on Dillon Reservoir at the Dillon Marina. Video taken from a Twinstar II aircraft using a 900Mhz wireless system.
A couple of problems occurred:
1. The 500mW video transmitter RF was getting into the elevator servo causing it to flutter from time to time.
2. The video transmitter seemed to greatly reduce the effective range of the 2.5Ghz Spektrum radio link for aircraft control.
3. Reception of video signal was below par even with upgraded whip antenna on receiver.
Solutions:
1. Mount the transmitter on the aft section of the fuselage. This will improve transmitter cooling, receiver reception, and hopefully minimize interference with 2.4Ghz link.
2. Use the two-receiver AR7000 Spektrum receiver for aircraft control. This should eliminate any range problems for the 2.4Ghz link.
3. Have video engineer aim a yagi antenna at the aircraft while recording.
