If you have a video you'd rather not share with the entire world, you can choose to restrict access to it by marking it as "unlisted." Similar to an unlisted telephone number that isn't available in public phone number databases, videos that have been unlisted are not accessible through Google Video search results. This option is especially useful for family videos. Just set your video to "unlisted" and email the link to your family and friends.
To unlist a video that is already available on Google Video:
- Go to https://upload.video.google.com and sign in
- Find the video you want to unlist and click the link that says "Edit Video Info"
- Find the "Access" option and select the "Unlisted" radio button
If you'd like to re-list a previously unlisted video:
- Go to https://upload.video.google.com and sign in
- Find the video you want to re-list and click the link that says "Edit Video Info"
- Find the "Access" option and select the "Public" radio button
Like other changes made to a video once it's uploaded, changing a video's listing status may take several hours to take effect. You can tell that a video is unlisted if you see the text "Unlisted" on the playback page. Unlisted videos can still be embedded in other web pages, emailed, or linked to from other public sites. Please note that unlisting a video may dramatically reduce the number of times it is viewed on Google Video.
